OK-here goes. Just out of sight to the top right is a very nice Neumann small capsule condensor microphone. But half of my sound comes from my FRAP preamp-the black box on the right side of the grey
pad my pedals are on. There are 3 outputs from that preamp: #1 is XLR and goes straight to the FOH board but first it goes through the Avalon preamp you see in that little black box that has a cup holder (water for reeds and drinking). Line #2 is 1/4 inch and is my effects. It goes first into that teal-colored thing on the grey pad; it's a BOSS Super Shifter (monophonic harmonizer). From there-the signal goes to the green Line 6 DL R4 Modeler. It becomes stereo there and then goes into the volume pedal in the middle of the grey pad.
The two signals then go from the volume pedal to the purple direct boxes-then to FOH. Output #3 goes to
the Peterson Tuner that you see above the Line 6. I can see my intonation quite clearly that way
Another view of my pedalboard. The white stuff you see is makeup-Neutral Set-it helps sticky bassoon key pads be less sticky in the summer humidity we get here in Japan. The black and yellow thing that's screwed
into the floor is called a Buttkicker-it's a 'shaker'. What a shaker does is vibrate the floor to give bass response similar to that of being onstage with a live band with bass amp, kick drum. It gives you better bassÂ
response as we use in-ear monitors and they don't give too much low end. Nothing like a live, low rumble!
